Can You Get Liposuction on a Jawline?

As a general rule, I don’t do liposuction along the jawline. The fullness that patients see on their jawbone is not fat, it’s descended tissue. On rare occasions, it’s the buccal fat pad that prolapses downward, and we really can’t liposuction that. Instead, I like to directly excise it through a very tiny oral incision.

Liposuction along the jawline can age us in a negative way. If we liposuction an area where the tissue has descended, we open ourselves up to more descent. I do a lot of liposuction in the anterior neck because I think this is an area where fat deposits, but we really don’t get a lot of fat on the jawline itself. I prefer to reposition that fat because that’s what makes us look the best, with the exception of full faces that have buccal fat prolapse.

How much does jaw liposuction cost in the neck?

Some people will call this jawline liposuction because we’re making the jawline look better, but it’s actually in the neck. The cost is variable in relation to who does it. For me, it’s about $4,500 to $5,000. Costs vary based on what kind of anesthesia I use. Doing it under local anesthesia reduces the cost. I also do it under sedation, and for patients combining liposuction with other procedures, I do it under general anesthesia.
