Does a Facelift Include an Eyelid Lift?

Whether a facelift includes an eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) depends on who you talk to. Some refer to a facelift using terms such as a full or total facelift, a mini facelift, or a mid facelift, but for me, when I use the word facelift it includes the cheek,  jowl, and neck. I’m working on the lower two-thirds of the face which doesn’t include an eyelid lift. That’s not to say that we cannot add an eyelid lift if requested.

Sometimes I perform a mid-face lift alone or a  neck lift alone, but typically, I don’t get the best results that way. A neck lift without a mid-face lift can make the jowls show more and a mid-facelift by itself can make any wrinkles or sagginess in the neck stand out.

During the surgery, we either lift the SMAS, the structural layer, by itself or we lift that structural layer with the skin, and it’s called a deep plane lift, which is my preference.

How much does this all cost?

The cost depends on geographic location, your surgeon, and whether you’re just having a facelift or adding other procedures, such as an eyelid lift. Adding an eyelid lift to facelift surgery is cost and time effective. It always costs less to have multiple procedures at the same time versus doing them separately, because you don’t have to pay for anesthesia and the operating room for each individual surgery.

That being said, the least expensive, blepharoplasty and facelift combined is about in the  $15,000 range, but there are places in Beverly Hills where you can spend $250,000 for the same thing.

I’m a little more moderate with my pricing. This is a relatively easy surgery for me, and I like to help people, so that’s why I do it that way.
